Keynote Speaker: Zhou Ze

      Abstract:

In this talk, I will give a survey on some nonlinear methods in discrete geometry. This includes the following parts: 1. Maximum principle; 2. Continuity method; 3. Topological degree method; 4. Intersection number theory. Applying these methods, we shall obtain many interesting results, such as Birkhoff’s billiard theorem, Cyclic polygon theorem, Circle packing theorem, Midscribability theorem and so on. If time permits, I will also introduce the flow method to find these solutions.

Speaker Introduction:

Zhou Ze, associate professor of Hunan University, graduated from the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015. He mainly studies the circle packing, complex analysis and low-dimensional geometry and topology. He won the 12th Zhong Jiaqing Mathematical Award, and the Outstanding Contribution Award of the 2016 China Science & Technology New Talents, and has published several high-quality papers in Inventiones Mathematicae, etc.
