Topic: Graph Mining

Speaker: Lin Yuqing

Abstract: Data mining has been an active research topic, especially when large data sets become available in the last twenty years. Big data sets are so voluminous and complex that traditional data processing approaches are inadequate to deal with them. Mining big data presented new challenges in all aspects, including data storage, processing and search etc.

In this talk, I will present some Graph Theory based data mining techniques, these techniques are based on some Graph Isomorphism and Subgraph Isomorphism detection algorithms. I will discuss how these mining techniques could be adapted to process large data sets, thus copping with the new challenges presented in real world applications.

Introduction of Speaker: Professor Lin Yuqing graduated from Newcastle University in 2004 with a Ph.D. in computer science. Then worked at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Newcastle University and acted as a visiting professor at the Charles University, Czech, Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain, and Technical University of Kosice, Slovakia. Presided over the Young Teachers Research Fund Project of Newcastle University, Australia, the Spanish Government Research Fund Project, the Australian Government Research Fund Project, and the French-Australian Joint Technology Development Project. Published more than 30 academic papers in international high-level journals such as Mathematics in Computer Science.
