摘    要:In this work, an adaptive streamline diffusion surface FEM is proposed and analyzed for surface convection-diffusion-reaction PDEs, which is a fundamental subproblem in many models for simulating substances transport on ultra-thin material and solid surfaces. One of novel ideas of this paper is to use the streamline diffusion FEM combining a gradient recovery-based adaptive strategy to overcome the stability issue due to the dominance of the advection for conventional FEMs. The proposed method can efficiently capture the large variations of the solution with few degree of freedoms or reduces non-physical oscillations. Moreover the theoretical analysis results are shown. Various numerical examples including the comparisons between the new method and the surface FEM, problems with discontinuous sources and internal boundaries on various surfaces, are presented to demonstrate the efficacy and accuracy of the proposed method
